Empowering communities and improving skills. Education, including school in the early years and vocational training later in life, is an essential springboard for farming communities around Indonesia.

Organic food contains more vitamins, minerals, enzymes and micronutrients than conventionally raised food.  Organic varieties do provide significantly greater levels of vitamin C, iron, magnesium, and phosphorus than non-organic varieties of the same foods. While being higher in these nutrients, they are also significantly lower in nitrates and pesticide residues.

Protecting soils and restoring degraded land. Degraded soil affects nearly a third of the Earth's land area. Poor soil management, population pressures, and expensive chemical fertilizers are all factors. This comes at a high cost to the environment and to farming communities who need healthy soil to grow crops. We train farmers on agroforestry techniques, such as planting forest trees alongside crops to provide shade and enrich the soil when their leaves fall and break down into compost.

Supporting biodiversity and effective land use. Conserving water while increasing yields.

Working with farming communities to help them become stewards of the environment, providing training such as on use of pesticides to protect pollinators, and avoid deforestation.

Improving economic opportunities for farmers is critical to building a more sustainable supply chain. We help farmers improve their economic opportunities with agricultural training to increase yields and quality, business training, premium payments.

Plant science is fundamental to improving farming productivity, resilience of our supply and the quality and functionality of our products and ingredients.
