Batak — Organic Arabica Coffee



A deep-toned, complexly expressive Sumatra in which an unusual but inviting spice note emerges, suggesting cumin in its sweetly drying richness. This coffee tied for the second-highest rating in a cupping of Sumatra coffees for Coffee Review‘s July 2016 tasting report. Bright, lightly tart acidity; plush, velvety mouthfeel. Flavor consolidates to tobacco and dried fig in a crisply drying finish. Our Batak is a very special coffee; everything from farm to drying is done by hand. At sunrise, farmers start picking the ripe cherries before pulping them with manual pulpers. After storing the wet parchment in bags to ferment overnight, the parchment is spread out on patios to dry. When the parchment is dry enough, it takes on a deep blue-greenish color and is ready for hulling. Another two or three days are needed for further drying before the coffee is triple handpicked and packed.

  • To preserve the coffee flavor and freshness of aroma, store your Bali Bohem Coffee in an airtight canister ( ceramic is best ) or a vacuum canister and put it in a cool, dry place. Keep away from direct sunlight.
